Use Interactive Toys

If it’s pouring outside but you have to leave the home, provide dog-friendly entertainment with interactive toys. Interactive toys are great for providing mental stimulation as well as a tasty treat. Keep your dog’s preferences in mind as you choose from snuffle mats, chewy toys, treat balls, and more.

Try New Treats

Don’t underestimate the excitement of new treats! For canines, trying new treats isn’t just about switching up routine. They offer new smells, flavors, textures, and even sounds, as dogs learn to associate noises to specific types of treats. If your doggo is used to crunchy biscuits, a chewy bully stick may be just the thing to offer new textures while also keeping them preoccupied.

Plan a Scavenger Hunt

Canines are natural-born hunters, and a scavenger hunt can satisfy their innate desire to sniff out some “prey”. Place favorite toys in relatively easy to find locations–we’re talking behind the couch, not locked in a closet in the basement–for a thrilling game. Try hiding treats along with toys for double the fun!

Practice Obedience Skills

To humans, practicing skills can sound like a boring day in school For dogs, training isn’t just about repeating a skill. It also encourages cognitive function by keeping them focused on a specific task as well as serving as a bonding activity. Plus, the treats and praise don’t hurt either!

Play Together

There’s nothing like a traditional game of tug-of-war or hide and seek to keep you both entertained! Take advantage of the inclement weather to bond while playing together. Be a good sport by letting your doggo win, and reward her with treats and cuddles for the ultimate prize.

Planning on a rainy day indoors? Make sure you’re prepared with an indoor pet potty like DoggieLawn! DoggieLawn is a real grass pee pad that offers a taste of the great outdoors without having to step one paw outside.
