Summer’s now in full swing, which means vacations galore! For families who are inseparable from their pets – pooches included – travelling can pose quite the challenge. For starters, how can masters seamlessly and safely transport their dog from point A to point B? We’ve broken down some of the most popular methods that allow dogs onboard, and how to make your trip a little less stressful:
1) Planes: Make sure you’ve double checked that the airline will allow your pooch on board and that you’ve followed their instructions on bringing your canine to a tee. For jittery dogs, Cesar Millan suggests having your dog take a whiff of some lavender oil. In order to make him associate the soothing scent with a happy experience, the website recommends introducing the flowery smell during feeding or just before exercise.
2) Boat: For those of you planning on setting sail with your pooch, VetStreet notes it’s important to set up a plan in the horrific chance your pooch goes overboard. Also, be sure to have plenty of water and sunscreen on hand as the sun heats up over the ocean blue.
3) Car: Whether you’re driving several hours or cross country, make sure to take plenty of walking breaks so that your dog can do his business and just get a great big breath of fresh air. As usual, bring along some water and never forget to keep your pooch completely strapped in for the ride.
Once you’ve arrived at your destination, don’t forget that DoggieLawn makes an ideal travel companion. Our dog sod potty patches will keep him indoors for an easy potty solution. Simply place your dog sod litter box inside your apartment for an outdoor-free experience. Your outdoor dog litter box can easily be used indoors, and picking up your dog’s potty is a breeze since it’s all contained on the dog litter box. We also carry poop baggies that come in a variety of colors and fun patterns to match your stylish pooch!
