Spring will soon be upon us and you know what that means – time to whip out the allergy medication! It should go without saying that people aren't the only ones to suffer from allergies, as our dogs can also fall prey to the new season. According to WebMD, if your dog is suffering from any of these symptoms, they may be demonstrating signs of an allergic reaction:
1) Sneezing
2) Itchy or scabbed skin
3) Runny eyes
4) Ear infections
5) Frequent licking
Be sure to check in with your furry friend’s vet to ensure they truly are suffering from allergies rather than something a little more serious. In the case your pooch is in the clear and his sneezing is due to the pollen in the air, there are a few things you can do to relieve their discomfort. Dogington Post recommends increasing the rate of doggy baths. Routinely cleaning his/her bedding is also encouraged by the website.
There are ways to prevent allergy exposure as well. Dr. Robert O. Schick provided his prevention tips to CNN and suggested taking off shoes once you enter your home. The website also recommends using a cool towel to clean off your pooch’s paws after they’ve had some fun outdoors.
Don’t forget that DoggieLawn is also another great way to keep your pooch away from unnecessary allergy exposure. You can keep our real grass patch neatly tucked away into your home, keeping your dog away from pollen this time of the year. Simply place your dog sod litter box inside your apartment for an outdoor-free experience. Your outdoor dog litter box can easily be used indoors, and picking up your dog’s potty is a breeze since it’s all contained on the dog litter box. We also carry poop baggies that come in a variety of colors and fun patterns to match your stylish pooch!
