We’ve trained them to assist us in everyday life. But just last week, our furry companions were dispatched on a rescue mission to Nepal following last week’s devastating earth quake. DoggieLawn Explores: Rescue Mission to Nepal

Now, some of the details about the life-saving dogs have emerged. Some were shelter dogs, according to the Huffington Post. According to the Search Dog Foundation, six teams from the group were sent out to Nepal to search for survivors.

And so far, they have successfully saved some lives.

The foundation states that with the help of rescue pooches, they have so far found a 24-year-old woman surviving within the rubble, as well as a teenage boy elsewhere.

Though they face many obstacles, the foundation is determined to continue on with their life-saving mission.

"This is a very unstable area still. We're removing debris that's holding large pieces of concrete up. We have structural engineers here to assist, we have buildings that are leaning, so there's a lot of danger in potential that we have in this disaster site but when there's a live victim and a potential to save somebody, we'll risk it all," said Andy Olvera, a handler for the foundation.

This is not the first time dogs have been sent out following a tragedy. Rescue dogs were also sent out in search of victims in the rubble following 9/11, for example.

Pictured is just an example of one of the dogs dispatched from England.

So, give your furry friend an extra special hug for them tonight! And treat them to a real grass DoggieLawn. Our dog sod patches are just one other way to tell them how much you love them.
