The sun is out and the flowers are blooming. What better way to take in all springtime has to offer than to head outdoors with your fur baby? Take advantage of the longer days with a quick outing for some easy fun and exercise! Check out our top 5 suggestions for springtime outings below.

- Hike in the woods: Now that the rains have subsided and trees have sprouted new greenery, even a brief hike can offer a much needed breath of fresh air. Make sure you’re aware of the trail's guidelines before heading out and equip your dog with a harness so they can join you safely and comfortably.
- A dip in the water: If you’re lucky enough to have access to calm waters, a short trip might be in order! Head out so you can soak up some sun and your dog can have a splash in the water to celebrate the coming of warmer weather.
- Farmer’s market: Exciting smells? Hustle and bustle? Yes, please! A dog-friendly farmer’s market can be a thrilling adventure for your pup. There’s tons of scents to sniff, other dogs to meet, and people to give them loving attention. And who knows, maybe your pup will be able to snag a couple of dog-safe treats!
- Alternative open space: There’s nothing like a walk in the park. Or is there? Try switching up locations from your usual dog park to make the routine walk more exciting. We suggest open fields, dog-friendly beaches, or any other open space that will let your dog run to their heart’s content.
- Your own backyard: Sometimes the answer is closer than you think. But rather than simply opening the door for your dog, we suggest making it an event! Think of having a BBQ or picnic, turning on the sprinklers (a slip n slide?!?), and laying out your pup’s fave toys for a (socially distanced) doggie playdate.
These excursions can be just what your dog needs to put a little spring in their step. But if you’re not able to make time for an outing, don’t worry! You can bring the great outdoors inside with a pee pad like DoggieLawn so that your pup doesn’t have to sacrifice having access to fresh grass.
