Happy New Years to all our beloved DoggieLawn fans! We’re ringing in 2015 with a bang and of course, our resolutions. Among the many goals people place at the start of the year, losing weight is arguably the most popular choice. And it turns out, pudgy pooches can also partake in this resolution as well. While our fit bodies may be our primary concern, it’s also incredibly important that we mind Fido’s waistline as well. Here are a few tips on getting started in dropping a few LBS: DoggieLawn Explores: Ring In The New Year With Fido!

1) Work in an extra work-out! Of course, we should all be walking our doggies every day, but as the temperatures decline, so does our desire to step outside. Cesar Millan has suggested a variety of fitness routines to do at home, including running up and down the stairs, using a laser pointer, and the tried-and-true game of fetch.

2) Measure their meals! It’s easy to fill up Fido’s bowl with kibble spilling out of the bowl, but that may not exactly be the best amount of food, depending on your dog’s size. As Pet MD points out, always use a measuring cup and refer to the nutritional guidelines printed on the food bag.

3) Consult an expert: Remember the best person to ask for advice from will be your vet. They will be able to tell you exactly how much your pooch needs to lose, and how will perhaps direct you in the correct method of losing weight.

Also don’t forget that as the weather dips, our DoggieLawns will come in handy! Our dog sod potty patches will keep him indoors for an easy potty solution. Simply place your dog sod litter box inside your apartment for an outdoor-free experience. Your outdoor dog litter box can easily be used indoors, and picking up your dog’s potty is a breeze since it’s all contained on the dog litter box. We also carry poop baggies that come in a variety of colors and fun patterns to match your stylish pooch!
