It’s not summer yet, but the weather is already heating up! Hotter weather is no excuse to slump on workouts. The same applies to our furry friends. They need the exercise just as much as we do! Here are a few tips to stay cool and fit during the hotter weather: DoggieLawn Explores: Working Out With Your Pooch!

1) Timing – Exercise in the morning or night! For our runners and walkers out there, try to avoid hitting the pavement with your pooch during the afternoon or peak heat hours, as pointed out by Paw-Rescue. Instead, go for a brisk evening walk, after the sun has done much of its damage. Stay in the shade if outdoor fun in the afternoon is unavoidable.

2) Stay hydrated! It goes without saying to always keep a bottle handy. Your dog will be in need of it as well. Cesar Milan encourages this, particularly for longer workouts.

3) Breed all about it – Some pooches will handle the heat better, while others not so much. And since the warmer weather usually encourages poolside fun, the Golden Retriever is a great fit! Dog References notes that the pooch is a ‘natural swimmer.’

Don’t forget out DoggieLawns are great for keeping cool as well, as it will keep your pooch inside during the peak heat hours! . Our dog sod potty patches will keep him indoors for an easy potty solution. Simply place your dog sod litter box inside your apartment for an outdoor-free experience. Your outdoor dog litter box can easily be used indoors, and picking up your dog’s potty is a breeze since it’s all contained on the dog litter box. We also carry poop baggies that come in a variety of colors and fun patterns to match your stylish pooch!
