These peanut butter and pumpkin dog treats are a great offering for your dog when you’re chowing down on your own holiday desserts. These baked treats are filled with pumpkin, peanut butter, and cinnamon to give it a sweet taste that anyone can enjoy – even humans! Make sure to save some for your dog, though!

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup canned pumpkin
  • 2 tablespoons peanut butter
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Whisk together the flour, eggs, pumpkin, peanut butter, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl. Add water as needed to help make the dough workable, but the dough should be dry and stiff. Roll the dough into a 1/2-inch-thick roll. Cut into 1/2-inch pieces.

Bake in preheated oven until hard, about 40 minutes.

Sweet Potato Dog Treats

If you’re looking for another snack that your dog will love, try these sweet potato dog treats. The great thing about this recipe is that it’s simple to make, it doesn’t cost much for all the ingredients, and dogs think they taste wonderful too!

Ingredients

  • 1 sweet potato
  • 2 ½ cups whole wheat flour
  • ¼ cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 eggs

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Prick sweet potato several times with a fork.

Heat sweet potato in a microwave on high until tender, about 6 minutes. Cut potato in half and scoop flesh out of the skin into a bowl; discard skin. Mash potato with a fork or potato masher and transfer about 1 cup to a large bowl. Save any remaining sweet potato for another use.

Mix whole wheat flour, applesauce, and eggs in the large bowl with the sweet potato until a dough forms. Turn dough out on a well-floured surface and roll dough to about 1/2-inch thick. Cut out shapes using a cookie cutter or cut dough into strips with a pizza cutter. Arrange cookies on an ungreased baking sheet.

Bake until crisp, 35 to 45 minutes. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes before removing to cool completely on a wire rack.
