Helping Shelter Dogs in Need

NKLA is an initiative led by Best Friends Animal Society, bringing together passionate individuals, city shelters and an entire coalition of animal welfare organizations to end the killing of homeless pets in L.A. city shelters by the year 2017.

L.A. Love & Leashes is an adoption space that is 100% dedicated to animals from Los Angeles’ six city animal shelters. Created by the non-profit Friends of L.A. Animal Shelters, L.A. Love & Leashes is located inside the popular pet retailer store, Healthy Spot in Santa Monica. This way, they are able to reach large numbers of people who would not otherwise visit city shelters.

Much Love Animal Rescue exists to rescue abused, neglected and homeless animals from the streets and shelters of Los Angeles and place them in loving homes. Much Love is a 100% non-profit dog rescue organization run entirely by dedicated volunteers who offer their time and resources to house, train, transport and care for these animals. Since its inception in 1999, Much Love has placed over 3,500 animals into loving homes.

Lovebugs Rescue is a foster based animal rescue located in Southern California. Their goal is to work with local animal shelters that are overpopulated in order to lessen the amount of animals being euthanized unnecessarily. Their hope is that they can educate people on how serious this issue is and how easy it is to make a difference.

The Dawg Squad rescues at-risk animals who are homeless or have been abandoned and are in need of medical care. They provide medical attention, training, rehabilitation, loving foster and permanent homes. Other dogs are boarded with an emphasis on training, and all dogs are well socialized at weekly adoption events. All animals have been Spayed/Neutered and Micro-chipped prior to adoption.

Lange Foundation is dedicated to saving impounded companion animals and preparing them for their journey to a new, safe, and loving world. Many of the pets they rescue stay at “St Bonnie’s Sanctuary,” a 4.5 acre property with 23 spacious indoor/outdoor dog runs and ISO rooms with separate air systems so that those rescued who are ill can recover in comfort. Each animal receives personalized T.L.C. by compassionate staff and volunteers. Once adopted, their progress is followed in their new homes.

Karma Rescue is a non-profit dog rescue organization dedicated to saving animals in need by finding them permanent homes and providing the resources for successful companionship. Through education, they instill the critical need for spay/neuter and offer guidance to strengthen the animal-human bond. Karma Rescues vision is to help create a compassionate society which provides safety, refuge and protection for all animals.

Downtown Dog Rescue is an all volunteer run 501C3 nonprofit dog organization that believes in second chances for both dogs and people. We rescue dogs and provide services for low income pet owners in underserved communities in Los Angeles County.

Westie Rescue of Orange County & Beyonds mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and find homes for West Highland White Terriers, to help control the animal population by spaying and neutering our dogs before they are placed in permanent homes, and to provide the public with education about our breed and its needs.

Tails of the City Animal Rescue is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) no-kill organization, dedicated to the rescue, treatment, boarding and re-homing of animals in the greater Los Angeles area.

Dogs Without Borders is a nonprofit 501-c-3 dog rescue organization based in Los Angeles, California. DWB rescues stray and abandoned dogs from local shelters and as far away as Taiwan and Mexico. DWB is proud to have placed over 3000 dogs since its inception, and will continue to rescue thousands more with the support of generous donations, fosters, and volunteers.

Ace of Hearts is a rescue foundation dedicated to rescuing dogs, the day they are to be euthanized, from various Los Angeles shelters and placing them in loving homes. Ace of Hearts provides their rescue dogs with medical care and any behavioral training or rehab they may need to ensure they'll be successfully adopted.

I.C.A.R.E. Dog Rescue specializes in taking in dogs formerly thought to be “unadoptable.” They have become known for nursing and nurturing sick and scared dogs back to their healthy and happy selves to find them their very own forever homes.

A grassroots-grown shelter, Family Dog Rescue was started by a young mom battling cancer. This San Francisco shelter often aids deaf, blind, and physically disabled dogs and hopes to provide a place that brings together both people and dogs in hopes of educating the public and helping dogs in need find their new homes.

Based in San Diego, CA, Second Chance Dog Rescue is dedicated to helping homeless dogs in Baja California, Mexico. They are proud to be non-breed specific and with the help of their volunteers and fosters, are able to re-home rehabilitated dogs of various ages, breeds, and abilities.

The Friends For Pets Foundation is a fully volunteer, non-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing veterinary care, comprehensive evaluation and adoptive homes for Sporting Breeds (Weimaraners, Golden Retrievers, Dalmatians, & Labradors) who are abandoned, mistreated, neglected or left in pounds throughout California. Founded in 1985, they have rescued over 3,000 dogs.

Wonder Dog Rescue started as a Boston Terrier rescue in San Francisco, CA. Now, they rescue small dogs of all types and those who are at greatest risk of euthanasia. They have partners in Puerto Rico, Thailand, and Korea and are working towards raising global awareness about the compassionate treatment of animals.

Founded in 2001 by an animal rights activist, Rocket Dog Rescue is an all volunteer group that saves homeless and abandoned dogs. They nurse and train dogs that have had difficulty being adopted, providing and caring for them while they find a permanent home.

Ken-Mar Rescue is committed to finding the perfect home for at-risk dogs. They ensure safe placement by conducting home checks with each adoption and thorough screening of potential adopters. Ken-Mar Rescue believes that forming “a lasting ‘love connection’ between adopter and pet” is what leads to successful re-homing and a loving new home for their dogs.

In 2007, through a generous bequest, the Lange Foundation purchased a 4.5 acre property in Canyon Country in the Santa Clarita Valley that became St. Bonnie’s Sanctuary. The property used to be a horse ranch. The Lange foundation did not realize it at the time but they had just entered the world of horse rescue. Since 2008, they have rescued 43 horses and ponies. They receive the same quality of care as the cats and dogs from their dedicated Sanctuary staff and volunteers.

Wags & Walks was founded in 2011 by Lesley Brog, the daughter of a veterinarian, who was devastated by the number of sweet and healthy dogs being euthanized due to overcrowding in LA shelters. Wags & Walks’ main goal when founded was to break the stigma that rescue dogs are damaged goods and to help decrease the number of dogs euthanized in local shelters by showing the community that you can find wonderful dogs of all breeds and sizes through rescue. Since their inception in 2011, Wags & Walks has saved more than 5,000 dogs!

Hope For Paws is a 501c3 organization that rescues animals in the Los Angeles area and beyond in an effort to end animal neglect, homelessness and abuse. After the rescues, the team creates videos which they share on YouTube and Facebook to educate the public on the importance of companion animals in our society and inspire people to take action, support the cause, adopt animals, and help reduce euthanasia rates at shelters across the country. The Hope For Paws YouTube channel reaches over 4 million subscribers and is the largest non-profit YouTube channel in the world!

Retrievers & Friends of Southern California, Inc., was formed to rescue and re-home Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers, providing an alternative to the animal shelter for owners who can no longer keep their dogs. In addition to Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers, RFSC also accepts mixed breeds and other small purebred dogs as space allows. They also make sure all dogs are spayed and neutered and updated on vaccinations if not already done so by the owner.

Angels of Rawley Foundation is an independent, no-kill, all breed 501c3 non-profit dog rescue, whose goal is to provide safe harbor to the homeless and abandoned dogs of Southern California and the dogs of the Dog Meat Trade of South Korea while helping them find their forever homes. They also strive to create an educated community by example though working within their community and rescuing dogs regardless of breed or need.

Muttville’s mission is to give senior dogs a second chance at life. They rescue them, give them the care they need, find them loving homes, and spread the word about how WONDERFUL senior dogs are! Muttville was founded in 2007 by Sherri Franklin, a longtime animal advocate and rescue worker. Working from her house, Sherri rescued 27 dogs that year. Since then, Muttville has grown into a nationally recognized organization that rescues approximately 1000 dogs a year!

Copper’s Dream Animal Rescue an all-breed dog rescue based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Their dogs live in foster homes until adopted, since they don't have a physical shelter. Wondering who Copper is? It’s the founder's first dog who also inspired her to start this rescue.

Los Angeles Animal Care and Control is leading the nation in protecting people and animals through compassionate care, community education, proactive intervention, and effective enforcement.

Chihuahua Rescue of San Diego County is dedicated to rescuing and caring for homeless, abandoned and injured Chihuahuas. They provide medical attention, loving foster homes and adoption counseling in an effort to find adoptable dogs the most suitable forever homes. They are dedicated to this breed because chihuahuas are one of the most over-represented breeds in San Diego shelters.

Loving All Animals helps connect people with their new pet. They strongly support the ongoing effort to create a No Kill Coachella County. They are active rescuers of cats and dogs that are currently in animal shelters. Additionally, through their Mobile Mutts Service and Whiskers and Purrs program, they make every attempt to rescue dogs and cats living on the streets as well!

The Coronado Animal Care Facility is run together by PAWS of Coronado and the Coronado Police Department. PAWS of Coronado assumes Coronado’s animal welfare responsibilities through the operation of the Coronado Animal Care Facility (CACF). Meanwhile, the CPD continues to provide for public safety through its in-field enforcement of their community’s animal regulations.

Hopalong Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization whose mission is to eliminate the euthanasia of adoptable animals throughout Northern California. Since it’s founding in 1993, Hopalong Animal Rescue has collectively saved over 24,000 animals, placing them in loving, permanent homes.

Halo Animal Rescue is an organization dedicated to helping animals live on through increased adoption, sterilization and pet care education. In 2019 alone, they facilitated adoptions for over 4,000 animals!

The Animal Foundation believes saving lives is a three-pronged effort based on lowering intakes, increasing positive outcomes, and ensuring The Animal Foundation can properly house and care for all animals who come into their care. The Animal Foundation is poised to become one of the highest-volume animal shelters in the nation to reach zero euthanasia of all healthy and treatable animals who enter their care.

The Big Mutt Network provides care, comfort and compassion to Giant Breed Dogs in need while engaging and educating the hearts, hands and minds of their community to help bring about an end to homelessness and the needless suffering of gentle giants!

Bichon Rescue Brigade is an all-volunteer group whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and place Bichon Frise and Bichon Frise mixed dogs into responsible and caring homes - as well as providing a resource for public education on the breed and responsible dog ownership. So far they’ve rescued and facilitated adoptions for over 800 dogs!

Marley's Mutts is dedicated to making a pawstive and lasting impact on communities by rehabilitating souls and creating second chances for rescue dogs using the power of the human/animal bond. Sally's Rescue, Inc. is a 5013c non-profit rescue organization that has one goal: to rescue dogs from high-kill shelters and make them ready for safe, loving, and permanent homes. Check out these amazing before and after pictures of pups they have rescued.

Forte Animal Rescue's mission is to inspire compassion and responsibility for animals, in addition to rescuing, rehabilitating and finding homes for companion animals. Forte Animal Rescue started saving lives in 2002. To date, FAR has saved the lives of more than 1,500 dogs!

The Dog Cafe’s mission is to revolutionize dog adoption by reinventing the way people connect with rescues who need homes. The Dog Cafe offers a comfortable and fun space for humans and dogs to hang out with each other, away from overcrowded shelters, which can provoke fear and aggression in perfectly adoptable pups. In addition to helping worthy pups find homes, they also offer the opportunity for people unable to have pets of their own to spend quality time with furry friends (and vice versa) without the commitment of adoption.

Mutt Match LA is an all-breed, all ages rescue. They have a special place in their hearts for puppies, seniors, and special-needs cases. They take owner surrenders, strays, and even dogs being given away on sites like Craigslist. One of the best parts of Mutt Match LA is their Rescue Ranch and Sanctuary. It's used exclusively for the rescued dogs in their care. Dogs that may never be adoptable due to health or behavioral issues remain at the ranch for life-long sanctuary.

Pug Nation Rescue of Los Angeles is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care, and placement of abandoned, neglected, unwanted, displaced, and abused pugs. Their goal is to find every homeless pug a forever home; if they cannot do that, they pledge to provide a comfortable and loving place for sick or unwanted pugs to live out their lives.

Boston Buddies is an all-volunteer organization that has been able to rescue and assist over 2000 dogs in need so far! Boston Buddies' ultimate purpose is to match homeless or potentially homeless Boston Terriers and Boston Terrier mixes with loving permanent families that are specifically interested in the breed.

GSROC is a volunteer-driven organization that is funded entirely by private donations! Approximately 50% of the dogs they rescue come to them directly from owners who are no longer able to care for them for one reason or another. The other 50% of the dogs in their care are plucked from public animal shelters throughout Southern California when no owner comes to claim them or when they are no longer wanted. Even with limited resources they aim to place as many of these dogs in their care as possible!

Wagging Dog Rescue is a grassroots nonprofit that champions the rights of animals worldwide and works to create a better future for all. They rescue orphaned dogs and other critters from shelters and streets in Southern California and ’round the globe. Wagging Dog Rescue advocates for responsible pet parenting, stands against discrimination – in all forms – and is dedicated to educating communities in order to achieve their goal of a more compassionate future.

Homeward Trails seeks to find permanent adoptive homes in the Mid-Atlantic region for dogs and cats taken in from under-resourced shelters or whose owners can no longer care for them. Homeward Trails not only facilitates adoptions from local shelters, but also supports a large network of foster care providers who take homeless dogs and cats into their homes, care for them, rehabilitate them when needed, and prepare them for their permanent adoptive homes.

Priceless Pet Rescue is a non-profit no-kill pet rescue operating out of multiple adoption centers known as “The Orphanage”. All animals are rescued from surrounding high-kill, high-access shelters. They also take in occasional owner surrenders and animals from various circumstances. Priceless Pet Rescue also operates their own vet clinic that focuses on providing affordable pet care.

Hooves & Paws Animal Rescue is a nonprofit animal rescue organization which provides a safe haven for unwanted, abused and homeless animals, including dogs, cats, horses, goats, and more! Once healthy and rehabilitated at Hooves & Paws, rescued animals are available for adoption. Animals who are not adopted are guaranteed lifelong care at their sanctuary in Louisa, VA.

Boxer Rescue Los Angeles (BRLA) was founded by Ursula Sauthier in 1977. Starting as a one-woman operation finding homes for one Boxer at a time, BRLA has grown into an organization fueled by volunteers that help countless Boxers find their perfect homes. Placing hundreds of Boxers annually, BRLA is proud to have helped tens of thousands of Boxers find their perfect home over four decades of service.

DoggieLawn customer Grace D. wrote in to tell us about her favorite rescue, the Mia Foundation! It was developed to give animals born with birth defects a fighting chance. So many animals born with birth defects, such as cleft palates or missing limbs, are euthanized at birth. With a little work and a lot of love, these animals give back so much more than anyone could possibly imagine. All they need is a chance and the Mia Foundation is there to give it to them.

Dharma Rescue has been rescuing dogs and cats since 1995! They specialize in saving disabled dogs from high kill shelters because disabled dogs are the first to be euthanized. Dharma Rescue then rehabilitates and trains these disabled dogs to be therapy dogs! As therapy dogs, they spend the rest of their days giving back and making a difference in people's lives by visiting kids and adults with disabilities and more!

One Tail at a Time Dog Rescue's mission is to end pet homelessness by making pet ownership a joyful and accessible experience for all. They accomplish this by rescuing animals from overcrowded shelters, placing them in loving forever homes and providing support and resources to pet owners in need. One animal they rescued named Kale Chips has even gone viral!

From their founding, more than 117 years ago, as one of our country’s first no-kill animal welfare organizations, Bideawee has been a leader in rescuing dogs and cats and successfully integrating them into loving homes. Charlie's Crusaders Pet Rescue is a group of volunteer dog lovers whose mission is to rescue, provide sanctuary, and to ultimately re-home abandoned, stray and neglected dogs. They rescue animals from the Mid-South where almost all the shelters are extremely high kill and then transport them up North for adoption. Charlie’s Crusaders Pet Rescue specializes in adoption to Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Connecticut, New York, and Delaware. MaxFund is a true no kill animal shelter and adoption center that challenges the traditional methods of animal sheltering by leading the no kill movement in Colorado. They strive to give animals, including the injured, abandoned, and abused a second chance at life. Established in 1988, MaxFund has found adoptive homes for more than 31,000 animals and has provided over 48,000 spays and neuters, mostly for pets of low income families.

Big Dog Ranch Rescue was founded on the idea that every dog deserves to live and, most importantly, to live a full and happy life. They are devoted to creating a healing community for dogs, both big and small, who have been neglected, abandoned, and mistreated. Founded in 2009, Big Dog Rescue has saved the lives of more than 43,000 dogs!

Pitbulls have been saddled with a reputation for being aggressive, making many potential owners hesitant to adopt a dog of this breed. New York Bully Crew is on a mission to change this reputation. The Long Island-based program specializes in rescuing and rehabilitating pitbulls from around the nation, though they focus a lot on the greater NYC area. While the program was founded to help save pitbulls, Bully Crew won’t turn away dogs of any breed that need help. The program also raises awareness about the cruelties of dog fighting, abuse, and neglect, and runs a text and email hotline for reporting these issues.

As the name suggests, this Texas-based shelter is a leader in the no-kill movement. After looking at the data, staff realized that the average live rate at city shelters was only about 50%. To close this gap, Austin Pets Alive! created rescue programs that focus on animals that might otherwise be euthanized at a different shelter. They created a Parvo Puppy ICU to treat puppies and dogs with parvovirus, as well as a Dog Behavior Program to support dogs that require additional behavioral attention. Such programs have helped the city of Austin save more than 90% of shelter animals since 2011.

The National Mill Dog Rescue's mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome discarded breeding dogs and to educate the general public about the cruel realities of the commercial dog breeding industry. So far they have rescued over 15,000 dogs and counting!

Greyhound Adoption Center finds loving homes for rescued track greyhounds and greyhound mixes. Their program focuses on each dog’s well-being, providing quality medical care and TLC as they transition to forever homes. Since public dog parks are not ideal for fast-moving greyhounds, adoptive families can even buy memberships to use the adoption center's private gated field offering one and a half acres of fun!

K9s For Warriors helps both dogs and military veterans. Their program provides service dogs to military veterans suffering from PTSD and other trauma. To train and place a service dog it costs approximately $27,000! These expenses are covered entirely through donations, and veterans are never charged a cent. Even if dogs don’t meet the requirements to become a service animal, K9s For Warriors will keep working to help them find their forever homes.

Road Dogs & Rescue strives to spread the message of love and compassion towards all animals – both locally and internationally! They specialize in rescuing bulldogs with their primary focus on saving seniors, puppies with special needs, and bulldogs with complicated medical cases.

The Rescue Train is an organization made up of a small but mighty group of animal advocates dedicated to making the world a kinder place for pets and the people who love them. They’ve been at the forefront in applying innovative ideas to animal welfare and have implemented programs like mobile spay/neuter clinics, shelter intervention and a pet pantry!

No Dogs Left Behind leads the way in the global war against animal cruelty. Their mission extends beyond borders, advocating for the creation and enforcement of animal welfare laws and raising awareness for a cruelty-free, sustainable world in which no animal is hurt for commercial goods or profit.

Soi Dog Foundation was established in 2003 in Phuket, Thailand, to help street dogs and cats who had no-one else to care for them. Over 70,000 strays roamed the island, with numbers growing rapidly due to a lack of spay and neuter programs. Soi Dog was created to provide a humane and sustainable solution to managing the stray population and to address their medical needs.

The mission of China Rescue Dogs is to rescue and rehabilitate dogs from the meat trade in China and provide them with loving homes in the U.S. and Canada. China Rescue Dogs hope that through their rescue efforts, they can shine a light on the dog meat trade in China and other countries to encourage others to advocate for the end of the dog meat trade and speak up for those who have no voice.

Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation is a non-profit organization focused on rescuing abused and neglected animals - locally, internationally and throughout the Asian Dog Meat Trade - rehabilitating them and finding them their forever homes. They embrace compassion, education and legislation to guide hearts and minds toward a brighter future for animals.

Animal of World Foundation is an animal rescue organized by Americans and Chinese Americans. The foundation helps in rescuing stray cats and dogs, spaying/neutering, treating diseases and seeking potential adoptions in mainland China. They have also brought disabled and abused dogs that could not be adopted in China to the United States to find them a forever home!

Founded in 1952, Pet Haven is proud to be Minnesota’s first foster-based animal rescue organization. Pet Haven improves the lives of pets and the people who love them by rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats. They aim to reduce pet overpopulation by supporting spay and neuter efforts and also provide resources to their community that help strengthen the human-animal bond.

A leader in the no-kill movement, North Shore Animal League America is committed to saving and rehabilitating the lives of homeless animals and educating the public about the joy and responsibilities of rescue. Founded in 1944, they are the world’s largest, comprehensive, no-kill rescue and adoption organization. Since their inception, North Shore Animal League has been able to save over 1 million dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens!

Rescue Ranch is a non-profit, dog rescue organization that specializes in rescuing Boston Terriers, French Bull Dogs, and Pugs. They predominantly rescue dogs with special needs, medical conditions, or senior animals. They provide community outreach programs that promote responsible pet ownership and reduce the number of at-risk dogs that are surrendered or abandoned. Rescue Ranch is located on 11 acres of land in the Athens, GA area, giving the dogs plenty of room to run and play.

The Milo Foundation rescues adoptable dogs and cats from high-kill animal control shelters and adopts them to loving homes best suited to provide lifetime care. They rehabilitate dogs and cats, offer sanctuary to those that are not adoptable, and educate the public about responsible pet guardianship, including spay/neuter.

Pacific Coast Dog Rescue is a non-profit charity organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing dogs in need. So far, they have saved over 2000 dogs! Their staff has dedicated their love, time and efforts to create the best environment possible for each dog, so that the dogs are ready for you to give them a loving, permanent home.

The Lovejoy Foundation has rescued, rehabilitated and re-homed more than 8000 dogs to date. Erin Lovejoy, director and founder, had a vision of a peaceful outside setting for a dog and puppy sanctuary; a place for the public to come, play, and adopt puppies and dogs. She believes that through educating the youth, the awareness will impact the future dramatically with the neglected, abandoned, and abused animals on the streets and in the shelters. The Lovejoy Foundation’s goal is for no dog to be left without a purpose, without a job, or without a home. With the motto "Touching lives one animal at a time," it won’t be long before their vision unfolds to what they have been living and creating every day.

Caring Songs, located in Manhattan Beach, CA, provides shelter to dogs until they are able to be adopted. They give love to the animals, making sure they are filled with happiness. Caring Songs Rescue covers the expenses for veterinary care to animals who need medical attention until they are nursed back to health.

Gone to the Dogs rehabilitates, cares, and transforms their rescues into the most loved and cherished family pets. They thoroughly pay attention to every detail about their dogs, providing high quality veterinary care, nutrition, professional behavior training, and foster homes filled with love, laughter and commitment. Gone to the Dogs has been finding good homes with good people since 2011, and will continue to rescue the sick, the injured, and the forgotten.

Mutt Scouts is a nonprofit dog rescue dedicated to helping homeless, abused, and abandoned dogs. They are committed to providing proper socialization, training, and medical care for each animal they save, no matter the cost. They are determined to save every dog they can, regardless of age, breed, medical or behavioral needs. Mutt Scouts ensures their dogs will know nothing but love and safety for the rest of their lives.

Spark Rescue is an all-volunteer animal rescue organization in Santa Barbara, CA. They offer cat and dog adoptions in a shelter-free, foster based environment. Paw Works has saved over 8,500 dogs and cats since it was established 7 years ago.

Shelter Hope Pet Shop is a non-profit, charitable, volunteer-based organization devoted to aiding in and facilitating shelter and rescue pet adoptions. They also promote education and awareness within the communities they serve, and they help save the lives of hundreds of dogs each year. By doing so, they have made a positive impact in decreasing the number of potential unhealthy puppy mill puppies purchased from for-profit and inhumane businesses.

Since 1992, L.I.F.E. has brought new life to thousands of animals. Life Animal Rescue’s mission is to rescue homeless or abandoned dogs and cats and place them in permanent, responsible, and loving homes. They promote and practice an aggressive spay/neuter effort to help resolve the pet overpopulation problem. L.I.F.E. is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization relying solely on donations to continue its work.

Not only does Care Rescue LA help save animals in need, but they try to prevent animals from ending up on the streets or in the shelter through education. By educating people on what goes into taking care of pets, they hope to start lowering the number of pets that are killed every day. They believe it is important for people to know how many great animals are euthanized each year because of irresponsible people and bad pet owners, not bad pets.

Pacific Pups Rescue was founded in 2016 with the goal of rescuing the dogs and cats who were being overlooked in the high kill shelters of Los Angeles. They rescue dogs and cats of all ages, breeds, sizes, and varying medical issues from euthanasia. Once in their rescue, the animals are cared for, vetted and rehabilitated, and adopted out to their forever homes.

Perfect Pet Rescue has many wonderful dogs ready to be adopted, located in Los Angeles, California. Pure breeds, mixes, small, medium, and large – all of their pets are looking for their forever home. Each rescue has been spayed or neutered, vet checked, and has had all necessary inoculations. All proceeds go directly to making better lives for all of their animals.

South Pacific County Humane Society (SPCHS) is a no-kill shelter and the only shelter in south Pacific County, Washington. Their mission is to promote compassionate care, to spay & neuter, and to place cats and dogs through service and education. They envision a community where every cat and dog has a loving home, free of abuse and neglect.

Ghetto Rescue FFoundation (GRFF) is a nonprofit founded by a group of police, fire and civilian personnel dedicated to helping animals and families in need in the greater Los Angeles area and across seven Texas counties. They serve low income, high crime rate communities located in, but not limited to, Los Angeles, California and portions of Texas. These areas are saturated with homeless, abandoned, and abused “street” dogs. These poor animals are sick, injured, starving, and struggling to survive. They have no voice and they desperately need help.

The Friends of the Marshfield, MA Animal Shelter’s mission is to promote awareness of and participate in the activities of the town owned Marshfield Animal Shelter. They create and deliver their own programs furthering the well-being and safety of Shelter residents, as well as animals in the community of Marshfield, MA and the South Shore. They support the shelter, a no-kill facility, by supplementing town funding for food, supplies and veterinary care. They provide training, socialization, daily care and adoption services for shelter residents.

Grateful Hearts Senior Dog Rescue is a nonprofit organization focused on responsibly rescuing hospice senior dogs from high kill shelters across the United States. Most of their rescues are medically challenged, special needs, or hospice rescues. They provide full medical and comfort care, in an indoor home environment, where they are safe, secure, and treated like family members. They have treated over 100 seniors dogs with compassion and love, as well as expert care.

Peyton's Safe Haven is a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer organization. They have a dedicated team of fosters, vets, and volunteers that care for each animal as their own until they find a forever home. They started in 2018 in hopes of creating a family of fosters, adopters, donors, and volunteers and bringing everyone together for animals in need in NYC and surrounding counties. To date, Peyton's Safe Haven has rescued over 1,000 animals.

Foothills Animal Shelter is an open admission facility serving Jefferson County in the state of Colorado. They are driven to make lives better for animals and people in their community. They create the best outcomes for all animals that enter their care, and place every healthy and safe animal for adoption. They also assess the medical and behavioral needs of homeless animals to ensure these needs are thoughtfully addressed.

Animal Rescue of the Rockies is a 501(c)3 non profit Colorado corporation. Organized in 2003 by a group of friends who wanted to provide an alternative to shelter environments, A.R.R. has served this vision well. They’ve successfully provided foster homes and subsequent permanent homes to over 10,000 dogs and cats to date. They work with foster homes to give homeless pets the chance to socialize in a home environment. This gives them the advantage of transitioning to their new forever homes much more easily and quickly.

It is the mission of the Humane Society of Boulder Valley to protect and enhance the lives of companion animals by promoting healthy relationships between pets and people. Founded in 1902, HSBV provides a safety net to animals in need in their community and beyond. Each year, HSBV impacts more than 10,000 animals, helping them find their new beginnings in the Boulder community or working to protect happy and healthy relationships, and supports thousands of existing pet-guardian relationships in the community through their Safety Net services.

Oregon Humane Society is the largest animal welfare organization in the Northwest, and adopts more animals from its Portland shelter than any other single-facility shelter on the West Coast. OHS puts no time limits on how long animals remain at the shelter—a pet stays available for adoption for as long as needed to find a loving home. If a pet in the care of OHS needs medical attention, the OHS veterinary hospital provides the pet with same level of care you would want your own pet to receive.

Berkeley Humane serves the people and animals of their community by providing life-saving programs for cats and dogs, cultivating compassion, and strengthening the human-animal bond. The Humane Society for Southwest Washington is dedicated to completing families through animal adoptions, matchmaking, and lost and found services. Founded in December 2016, Tiny Paws Pug Rescue is a California based non-profit whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and find forever homes for Pugs and Pug-mixes. They also support other organizations with similar goals and advocate for animal rescue and adoption everywhere. Their purpose is to rescue and prepare dogs for their forever homes, and their team provides education and support to potential adoptive families and the community to endure breed understanding and the responsibility of owning a dog.

Shadow’s Fund is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to helping the most vulnerable shelter dogs. Senior dogs, dogs labeled as “pit bulls” and dogs with a treatable injury or illness are often passed over for adoption. They help these forgotten dogs find hope and 2nd chances. Whether out in the community, or at the sanctuary, Shadow’s Fund is always working to promote responsible and humane animal stewardship.

Underdog Rescue of Arizona is a non-profit, foster-based Phoenix dog rescue. They are dedicated to rescuing and re-homing pets in need, whether they were rescued from the euthanasia list, homeless, or abandoned. They are one of the few Arizona animal shelters that rescues and re-homes dogs of all ages and sizes, with no breed restrictions. Their focus is on rescuing and rehabilitating the true “underdogs” — those senior pets, bully breeds, or pets with medical issues. In addition, Underdog Rescue of Arizona is an advocacy group, striving to educate the public on the issue of animal welfare. They work on shelter reform, spay and neuter education, the responsibilities of raising dogs, and emergency rescue.

Realizing that Maricopa County had the second highest euthanasia rate in the nation, a group of animal advocates could no longer look the other way and created Home ‘Fur’ Good. It was officially established in 2009 as a non-profit with the hope of eliminating the euthanasia of adoptable animals in Maricopa County. The staff and volunteers at Home ‘Fur’ Good strive to give its animals a clean and comfortable place to sleep, nutritious food to eat, excellent medical care, adequate daily exercise, and an overdose of love and affection. In 2019, Home Fur Good took in 694 beautiful, but homeless, dogs and cats. They happily adopted out 679. Their live “release rate” for 2019 was 99.85%.

The mission of AAWL/SPCA is to provide excellent care, protection, and loving compassion for the life of the animals entrusted to them, and to take a leadership role in promoting humane values for the benefit of all animals and people. AAWL rescues, rehabilitates, and re-homes more than 4,000 dogs and cats that are abandoned or that have been surrendered by their owners. They also have a foster parent network of approximately 90 families who provide care and shelter in their homes for puppies and kittens that are too young to be adopted, and those animals that are recovering from medical procedures or that need socialization before adoption.

Southern Nevada Animal Rescue League, exists to provide a better life for adoptable homeless, abandoned, or abused animals. They aim to assist in the effort of limiting the overpopulation of these animals as well as educate the public against breed or size discrimination. There is no such thing as a “bad breed”, only bad humans. Their mission is to make sure all of the animals they rescue are placed in loving, safe, and viable fur-ever homes.

Pedro Pet Pals was founded in 2009 by Theresa Sardisco to support homeless animals through the programs of the City of Los Angeles Harbor Animal Shelter and the SPCA. They are a non-profit organization run by a team of volunteers. Pedro Pet Pals actively raises funds to support their local animal shelters with supplies, medical equipment, and other items that the city cannot afford. Pedro Pet Pals is also committed to the community by providing spay/neuter programs, and community educational outreach to pet owners.

Rover Rescue is a non-profit organization founded in 2001 to save as many homeless dogs as they can and place them in permanent and loving homes. They know that somewhere nearby a person or family yearns for one of these special dogs. Each dog is placed in a caring foster home or boarded until the right owner is found. During their stay with Rover Rescue, volunteers walk, socialize and give these dogs the loving care they need. Injured or sick dogs are given proper medical attention, and all dogs are vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and even given “beauty makeovers”.

Rancho Coastal Humane Society is dedicated to saving lives of abandoned companion animals, promoting adoption into loving homes and offering education programs and support services that inspire and strengthen the human-animal bond. RCHS is well-known for its personalized pet adoption process, Friends of County Animal Shelters program (FOCAS) and humane education programs. RCHS is also recognized for services that strengthen the human-animal bond. At RCHS, they believe everyone should be able to keep their beloved pets safe, healthy and by their sides.
