DoggieLawn Explores: Doggy Devotion and Real-Life Heroes

Just how devoted are our dogs? A new fad is sweeping social media, where people tape themselves fake fainting in the presence of their dogs. The object of the game? To determine just how our loyal canines will react during a real-life emergency, based on their response.
And it turns out many dogs don’t immediately rush to their owner’s side. In fact, many of them seem to continue on in their walk.
It turns out there is a reason for this aloofness, as Bashkim Dibra, an animal behavior expert, explains to CNN. It turns out our pooches are a lot more tuned into an actual emergency than we might initially believe.
He said: “There’s been proven facts that the dog can smell and connect with a person when they’re really in dire need…but if you’re playing games, they’re going, ‘okay, this is not what’s really happening’ so they just walk away.”
Of course there are indeed real life dog heroes. 
Aside from the countless service dogs that help veterans and others in need everyday, some have overcome great obstacles that have made them famous.
Among them is Roselle, who led her owner Michael Hingson– blind since he was born – down from the 78th floor of the North Tower at the World Trade Center on September 11, according to OutsideOnline.com. They made it out alive, and shortly before Roselle’s death, the American Humane Association honored her as their American Hero Dog Of The Year in 2011. This is just one amazing service dog story, but there are even more dog heroes.
